My husband and I have been caring for ill family members for over 10 years. Our home has become a place of support for our extended family, especially during some very difficult seasons. My dad has dementia, and my mom has been battling cancer after it returned and metastasized in October 2025. My sister also faced cancer that spread to her brain she moved in with us in July 2024, and we cared for her until she passed in August 2025.
During the pandemic, my nephew came to live with us while going through a very difficult time. Thankfully, he is doing much better now. After my sister passed, her eldest son also moved in with us as he had nowhere else to go.
